A safe place to save. A fair place to borrow.
Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve the financial needs of their members. In an effort to establish a member-owned cooperative that would provide a safe place to grow their savings and a low-cost source for loans, fourteen charter members came together to create the St. Mary’s Credit Union in April 1962.
Within a few years of operation, the founding members were approached by the community of Whitesville to open membership of the St. Mary’s Credit Union to the Whitesville community. In April of 1968, St. Mary’s Credit Union became the Whitesville Community Credit Union, Inc. This enabled the credit union to expand membership to include anyone who lives, works or worships within a ten mile radius of the city of Whitesville.
Today, membership includes anyone who lives, works or worships in the counties of Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Ohio, Webster, McLean, and Union.
St. Mary’s Credit Union is chartered
Fourteen charter members create a member-owned cooperative in April 1962.
Becomes Whitesville Community Credit Union
Membership opens to anyone within ten miles of Whitesville.
Seven counties, two branches
Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Ohio, Webster, McLean and Union counties.
One credit union with Modern Employees FCU
Effective December 31, 2025, the two credit unions became one, with a unified brand launch in mid-2026.
